International Women's Day

International Women's Day has been running every year since 1909 and is aday of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women with hundreds of events being held to celebrate women and raise awareness of issues. The United Nations runs the campaign "Ending Impunity for Violence against Women and Girls" and their fact sheet does make thought provoking reading.

It's an official holiday in Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
