Pictures of Jupiter!

After the recent post about Saturn, I thought it was only fair that Jupiter got a mention too!

The Pluto-bound New Horizons space probe, launched a little over a year ago, recently succeeded in passed by Jupiter. The probe took some great images of the Jovian system, including the "mosaic" image above which was taken during a 3-minute, 35-second span on February 10, when the spacecraft was 29 million kilometers (18 million miles) from Jupiter. The probe is set to reach Pluto in 2015.
