UK Households to get "free" energy monitors

From sometime in 2008, UK households should be able to get their sticky paws on a device that measures energy consumption in their houses as energy providers will be obliged to provide free monitors to customer's who request one.

The aim is that having these "real time" monitors in homes will encourage people to waste a lot less energy and help to cut emissions by 400,000 tonnes a year by 2010.
